I lived at Southwood Terrace and while I loved my apartment the management sucked. When I first moved in there was large hole in the bathroom that still hasn't been fixed, even though I have received emailing saying that they would fix it(its been over a couple of months since I moved in) but no one has come to fix it. Only one of the dryers actually works well and the others you have to dry twice. They also towed my car because they were redoing the parking lot at 9 am without any warning prior to sending me a text at 9am. They said that they sent me an e-mail (I never got it) they also said they posted signs up the day before (Which I never saw because I never left my apartment) and they also said they sent out a mass text to everyone the day before (which I also never received). They also did not know where my car had been towed. This was all completely ridiculous and I had to pay 100 dollars for the two hours that it sat in the lot. I am so thankful I will not have to deal with them again.
So much financial suffering with this company. They don't listen to you or communicate. They will find anyway to get more and more money from you.
Managament is TERRIBLE and PATHETIC. I strongly advised absoluetly no one to ever rent from this company. If you put in a maintenance request it will literally take at least three months for them to even acknowledge it, when you call the office they constantly transfer you to a differnet person every time and 99.9% of the time you get sent to voicemail, which then takes them two weeks to call you back. They randomly show up at your place to give tours without notifying you. They say you have time to renew, more than two months, but then email you and tell you that you have two days to resign or they are filling your unit. Communication is horrible and no one ever knows what is going on. I feel sorry for anyone who has ever rented from them or is who is going to rent from them. Take my advice and find another rental company. The only good thing about Atwood is Barry the maintenance guy because he actually cares and knows why we are frustrated.
I had read reviews about Atwood that stated how management was not helpful, inconsiderate of tenants and their situations, and would try and charge accounts in any way possible. I decided to still sublease from my friend to help him out and square away my living situation. I was disgruntled from the very start that we had to pay a "lease revision" fee I think was $400. This means we paid $400 just to fill out a form and for them to change the name on the lease. Seems fair right? Living there was alright.. Well no it was not. At all. Everything broke, from the sink faucet, to the closet door, to the towel rod in the bathroom. Bobby the landlord at the Quads was the one person who was super cool and helpful at all times. After the semester, I was left by myself in a 2 br. Spent weeks preparing and doing the things needed for move out. Spent three full days cleaning the apartment once everything was pretty much moved out. Well I got the deposit back today, and not only did we lose almost the entire security deposit, but we got charged $172 for general cleaning charges that are not even specified. Very disrespectful to all my hard work and time I wasted. Everything I had read about Atwood was true I guess, I hope you decide to listen to this review.
Never ending pain with this company. Don't answer or return phone calls or e-mails unless it's something they need MN state law requires security deposits returned within 21 days of vacate, doesn't seem to matter to them. Have heard nothing but awful things from other tenants as well, wish I would've read these reviews before renting through them, but aren't many other choices in Mankato.
