I went to Ribfest here. You'll get a great upclose view if the performances here.
Got to see Primus play here in 2017. I expected the venue to be huge in hardly be able to see Les Claypool, however, the venue seated enough people and even in riser 2 I was able to see him very clearly. Food trucks in food stands abound in this very intimate outdoor venue!
Up close and personal to the talent well-behaved crowd an overall good time had by all
Beautiful place to hear a rock concert would recommend to others great sound quality
It's not that I haven't had good times here -- I most certainly have, and look forward to more. But it's not a good venue. There's no backstage to speak of. The stage is too far off the ground and too far from raked seating. The tent which served for a while as a backdrop has never been replaced since it blew down in a storm quite some time ago.
On the whole, the place feels exactly as if it were thrown together for the least amount of money possible and foisted on the public as a public arts project.
The seating is uncomfortable, and acoustics are bad. The whole place feels like an afterthought built from scrap stone left over from building Riverfront Park, in which its situated.
Area residents on both sides of the river consider this venue a perennial public nuisance. Concerts can be extremely loud, and parents have repeatedly expressed concerns at lyrics audible from far away they don't want their children to hear. Yet, the City of Mankato shows no interest whatsoever in enforcing existing local and state noise ordinances.
