This is a beautiful State Park with waterfalls. I visited twice while in the area. If you want to get up close to the falls, you will need to take a short hike down a worn path. It is not far and well worth it. The only thing that disappointed me was the assholglyphs. Yea, humans have cared their names, initials, etc. Into the beautiful sandstone cliffs. It's just another representation of the stupidity that runs rampant in our country and the disrespect for the beauty of nature.
Great, casual park for getting together. Pretty setting with a significant waterfall feature. Regardless of season, a perfect place for photography, hiking or just relaxing.
Nice place to visit with the family... waterfalls and the Bison park was good. Would definitely recommend to visit this place once.
Wonderful place to hike and enjoy nature. Bison are a big draw seeing them up close is hit or miss though. $7 For day pass $35 For a year vehicle pass good all the Minnesota State Parks.
I have camped at Minneopa before and was not disappointed. The staff are friendly and we wanted to reserve a location near the bathrooms but not next to a lot of people. Thus we arrive at campsite A2. It was lovely with lots of space, picnic table, and fire pit with a grill. The mosquitos were awful (welcome to the woods) but we realized it was because we were right next to a swamp. I don't know if it's because we're having a really wet summer or if the swamp is a constant thing. Nevertheless we pushed through, and around 1 am we decided to settle and crawl into our tent. Then we heard it: the distinct howls of coyotes. It was fine except the woods surrounded our campsite and we were surrounded by the howls. I had both of my dogs with me, who wouldn't be helpful in any sort of wildlife situation. My friend and I were worried about the dogs and coyotes and nothing to really protect us or the dogs in case something would happen. The howls were getting louder so in a moment of panic we grabbed the dogs from the tent (one is 14 and can't move very fast) and we booked it to the car abandoning everything at our site. We returned the next morning to find our campsite happily untouched. If nothing else, the campsite provided some excitement and entertainment for a night.
