" Are you going to pay for that spot".
I hope they get a better manager.
I recall the indians were held captive there in the Sioux uprising.
I did call the mankato city parks and left a message but never got a reply.
Very nice campground. good location with nice wide open spaces. Not a lot of trees yet but would definitely recommend.
Anyhow I camped here in early summer 2004.
On the plus side, this park is very beautiful, quiet, and the space between campsites is generous. But too generous when it comes to "sharing" the hook up box. I would estimate that the neighbor is 75ft...great...but the hookup we share is in middle. With a 25ft. shore line, in order to hook up you will need an extension cord to reach the box. This seems to be the case no matter what amp you need. BRING AN EXTENSION CORD FOR YOUR AMP. You will probably need it. Some sites have even more distance. I spoke to a very nice person in office and he said it is a problem with the campground and should say on the website, but does not. On top of that, there is 1 water source to service many campsites. So come with a full fresh tank if you do not want to walk a long way to fill up a Jerry jug. Some sites are closer to the source and you may be able to fill your tanks with enough hose. Continuous water hook up is not available here. For the price I paid, and the inconvenience of having to purchase an extension cord (that I will probably need again) and little access to water, I would have paid $5 more for full hook up some place else. But again, the park is very quiet and sparse so these may not be a problem for you. But I am disabled, so was for me and why I am posting this.
my camper wheel broke and I arrived very late in the dark and did not see a register drop box. I went to bed and woke up about 830 to a guy on a four wheeler yelling at me in my truck box.
2 PM check in time really! and then there is the water spigot. Amazing water department near by and they can't have water and sewer at every site.
As a kid i visited the Sibley park across the river often and it had a zoo years ago.
Very rich history. I recall the stories of chief sleepy eye lived there in summer months.
Huh! I should have knocked the guy out and called police.
Beautiful camp and park across river.
Close to town in case you forgot something, Great people in the office, and very reasonably priced!
